You will find a few tavernas and hotels along the shoreline, but don't expect anything fancy.
The beach is easily reached from Rhodes town by bus or taxi, but take notice that as it is near to the airport you will be witness to the constant aircrafts flying over. Yet, this is a great place to get some solitude, as it is not extremely popular with bathers, but don't expect to be on your own either.

The village of Soroni, which is just a few hundred meters away, will also provide you with tavernas and supermarkets if you need something during the day.

The village of Pylona (Pilona) is situated 5 kilometres from the village of Kalathos and 46 kilometers southeast of the city of Rhodes. The name Pylóna comes from the name "pyli" which means "portal", as it used to be the portal of the south of Rhodes.

Agathonisi is the north most islet of the Dodecanese island complex with a quite impressive coastal configuration and many beautiful windless bays. The island of Agathonisi was named Yetousa in ancient times. According to contemporary researches today's name is the result of a etymological mistake from the plant from which the name is derived 'Agkathonisi' ie. Island of the Thorns.
