Pastida is located slightly inland on the west coast of Rhodes. It is shadowed by the mountain of Filerimos, its name deriving from the Italian word for bastion (Bastida). Here you will find the typical Rhodian houses joined to one another by common walls and open courtyards, with someone always available for conversation and some occasional chit-chat. The narrow alley-type streets offer privacy from cars as most of them just allow motorbikes to whiz through them. The surrounding olive groves and citrus trees give the village its appearance of lush greenness and security.

Pastida is a lovely village to stay in some good tavernas to either eat or watch the world go by. There is an amazing cocktail bar called Epavalis which also serves amazing food.

I went to Pastida for the first time last May, and stayed at the Garden Hotel. I loved it all, the village was lovely to walk around and has lots of lovely places to eat. I found it so peaceful, also caught the bus into Rhodes town a few time, the bus stops just outside the hotel. I am already booked to come back this year, and am counting down the days.

I have stayed in Pastida a few times over the past few years, having stayed 3 times at the Garden Hotel which is where I am planning to spend part of my Greece when I next visit.
Pastida is a very friendly village and as I was then travelling on my own I didn't feel nervous at all, I also visited Marieta's Hotel where I made friends and still keep in contact with them, I haven't stayed at Marieta's though.
The local bus stops in the village square. There were a few eateries/bars/shops in the village.
Looking to my next visit even though it will be shorter this time.
