This was at least in the case of tour operator Tjäreborg, where visits to its website more than doubled after the Christmas holidays compared to the two weeks before Christmas. With the New Year, the booking curves for holiday trips shot up like rockets to the sky. In the first week of 2023, the number of holiday bookings increased by 133% compared to week 50 of 2022.
The interest in summer holidays at the beginning of the year is significant, even if the point of comparison is taken from the period before the pandemic, i.e. the beginning of 2020. Summer holiday trips sold by Tjäreborg in the first week of this year were 20% more than in week 1 of 2020.
Greece has long been the favourite summer destination for Finnish holidaymakers. A real Greek summer seems to be happening in the summer of 2023. Before the pandemic, the so-called "normal years", just over 20% of Tjäreborg customers chose Greece. For the coming Summer, Tjäreborg expects an increase in demand and a customer share of about 38% for Greece. Currently, the individual destinations with the most bookings this summer are Madeira and Mallorca.
Tjäreborg's top 5 summer destinations are:
- Crete
- Rhodes
- Cyprus
- Mallorca
- Parga
