Fourni beach is ideal for those who enjoy the wild beauty of nature. There are no tourist facilities here but only a small canteen that sells refreshments and light snacks. Umbrellas and sunbeds are in limited offering, it is advised that you bring your own. Otherwise you will have to get here early to secure a place in the shade of the rocks on the right-hand side of the beach. If you wish for more privacy, try the end of the path that runs to the left. Look for the rock ancient carvings in the shape of baths. According to local historians, the baths were built for the exclusive use of nobility.

There are a few pine trees and rocks to jump into the water from. Often the sea here is wavy - the western coast of the island has rougher waters that the west coast. You can find even wild coves and bays with sand or large pebbles where even fewer people are present, ideal places for those who like wavy seas or fishing, by following the dirt roads as you make your way from Kattavia to Monolithos, opposite the solitary rock in the shape of a boat which rises up above the waves.

Continue down the road from Monilithos and you will reach Fourni Beach. There were only a few visitors who seem to stray here. The wonderful sandy-pebble beach and a small taverna are just great. If you climb up the long rock on the left hand side (there was no signposting) you will reach some caves and the a burial chamber. Everything is a somewhat hidden and you have to explore a bit. From up there you have a great view of the two bays. The trip is really recommended! Make sure you have a pair of sturdy shoes with you if you also want to explore the area arounf Fourni beach.

We visited Fourni beach in July 2019. I have to admit is was one of our most wonderful experiences. Not only because of the beach itself, which is wonderful, but also because of the whole trip to reach it. Before you reach the beach, you will pass the wonderful villages of Siana and Monolithos, both are a good place to enjoy a marvelous meal and shop for local delicacies - try the local Suma, wines and food - you will be pleasantly surprised! It was all so delicious! We then passed the castle of Monolithos - which is also on the way to the beach, where of course we stopped to visit and admire the majestic views - highly recommended! From there it is another good 15 minutes trip to the beach, which is one of the most wonderful we have visited on Rhodes. Fine sand, crystal waters, there is also a canteen to accommodate your needs. Some people were climbing on the high rocks to explore the area further which is not reachable by car, and others were camping in a little forest which is on the road right before you reach the beach. We are definitely coming back. This beach is a very good final destination if you are looking to make a day trip on this side of the island!

No pictures available; what a shame. My most beautiful photo's of my holiday at Rhodos were shot at Fourni. By the way, there is a small 'cantina' and there are umbrellas nowadays. But don't tell anyone else and enjoy the beautiful nature and the local people.
