It is a small picturesque village with a total of 504 inhabitants, mainly involved in the agricultural industry. The tranquillity of the village of Pylona and the surrounding Olive Grove drenched mountains surrounding the village makes it one of the most unspoiled villages on the island.
Its short distance from Lindos (a mere 5 kilometers) makes it an ideal place to relax and the perfect base to explore the surrounding villages of Lardos, Kalathos and the area of Vlycha.
The churches of Pylona village, as well as many local monuments, were ruined by a major earthquake which struck in 1926. Today, there still stands the beautiful church of St. Nicholas and further on, the church of Evangelism, featuring Byzantine frescoes.
In the northern Dodecanese, nestled between the enchanting islands of Patmos and Leros, lies the peaceful sanctuary known as Lipsi. This unassuming gem is the largest of a group of 20 islands and islets that are part of the esteemed Natura network, boasting a pristine ecological landscape that is nothing short of breathtaking.

Malona is situated on the south east coast of Rhodes, inland and within a beautiful, fertile valley. A farmers village, with most of the population concentrating on their famous citrus production, as well as good quality olive oil, or working in nearby Lindos and Archangelos.
