The village of Massari is located on the south eastern coast of Rhodes Island; it is a little village which is set in lush, green vegetation just off the main road.

The village of Massari is located on the south eastern coast of Rhodes Island; it is a little village set in lush, green vegetation just off the main road. The is not much tourist activity taking place here, and the village hangs onto its traditions and cultures. This is a village you would stay in if you were only looking for complete quite and calm. The monastery dedicated to St John and the monastery of Kameiri from the Byzantine period give some interest to the village, its spectacular belfry being the focal point. Apart from the pine and cypress trees that surround the village and the long acres of citrus orchards, of which Massari is renowned, there are hundreds of olive trees, the whole setting offering the visitor an abundance of hiking paths and days out.

My husband was born in Massari, and left for Australia in 1955. He is now 81 years but often talks about it and him and his brother Michael own land there as you drive in off the highway. Near the roundabout. We have been back a few times. Love From Australia
